NatureSense is a form of meditation focused on deep, conscious listening without thought.

The Practice
Find a Quiet Place
Take the chair somewhere peaceful—ideally in nature, far from roads, traffic noise, engines, or crowds.
Set Up the Chair
Adjust the chair to fit your posture.
Tip: If you’re on uneven ground, position yourself so you’re facing slightly uphill—this offers better spinal alignment. Facing downhill can cause discomfort.
Align Your Body
Find the best position for your knees and back. Personally, I recommend placing the back pad just below the shoulder blades tohelp open the chest and relax the shoulders.
Minimize Distractions
Turn on airplane mode to disconnect from devices and interruptions.
Set a Timer
Be bold—choose a duration that challenges your stillness. I suggest starting with 44 minutes.
Begin the Practice
- Sit comfortably with your eyes closed.
- Gently listen to the natural sounds around you.
- When thoughts arise, notice them without engaging.
- Return your focus to listening.
- Practice daily.

The Executive Director- Scott Marecek
As the Executive Director, Scott brings a unique blend of academic expertise and personal passion to the OM Foundation. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Plant Biology and another in Natural Resource Management, with a focus on sustainable agriculture.
He’s also just one class away from completing his Master’s in Environmental Science, specializing in Resiliency and Green Infrastructure.
In 2011, Scott discovered the transformative power of meditation in the mountains of Portugal, and ever since, he has been dedicated to sharing this practice with the world. His journey combines a deep respect for nature with a commitment to fostering mindfulness, making him a guiding force in the Foundation’s Mission.
